2nd Monday of January is in Japan a National Holiday for the "Coming of Age" Ceremony. Nowadays not many young men wear traditional Kimono Hakama but the girls will almost all of them wear the extremely expensive Furisode (long sleeves all the way to the shoes) that costs more than 1 Million Yen and even rental ones are very expensive! The Furisode are only worn by young women as they symbolize availability for marriage. The young people are enjoying this SEIJINSHIKI national day with their teachers during the ceremony and taking photos with their parents.
This year again we went to KEIO PLAZA Hotel in Shinjuku at noon to see them and wish them much happiness and a safe life full off success and hoping they will create a better society and better lifestyle for Japan in the decades to come!!
