The piece takes the listener on an emotional roller coaster, ranging from subdued, almost inaudible pianissimos to rousing unison fortes. As the title suggests, Distances Within Me is a very introspective and personal composition, which allows the performers to create their own interpretation. This is no straightforward piece for saxophone and piano, but one which requires thoughtful study and sensitive musicianship."
