Culture wars in Canada: Is there a solution to the divide?

All over Canada, and North America as a whole, there is an often heated debate over the future of the dominant culture.

From LGBTQ+ rights, to library books, there is a storm of controversy. Groups all over the political spectrum have carved out their stance.

There is the progressive view, that culture changes with time and should reflect and respect all forms of diversity. And there is the more conservative view, that "equality" has gone too far and is threatening the very tenants of Western culture.

Over the last few years, we've seen the rise of so-called cancel culture, that some see as reenforcing equity by publicly shaming those who express views some find repugnant. On the other hand, some see it as an attack on freedom of speech and belief.

It's come to the point where the two sides seem unable to even have a conversation, let alone a debate.

It's a complex and divisive issue, and we're diving in today.

We hear from the Angus Reid Institute, who recently polled Canadians about where they stand.

Then, we bring in our political panel to hear how the culture wars are playing out in Saskatchewan.

And we ask: Are you still able to have a conversation with someone whose political views differ from yours? Why do you think this issue has boiled over in the last few years? And, is there a solution?
