Freddie (offside, 8hh) and Nigel (nearside, 7hh), a pair of 4yo miniature Shetland geldings that we broke for carriage driving. This video shows them driving in the river, meeting some admirers in Stockbridge High street and pulling the carriage along a busy road. They are being driven in this film by both Barry and Mel. They will be doing pleasure drives with their owner and taking child passengers on drives from their owner's B&B.
Once miniature shetlands are outgrown by their tiny jockeys, carriage driving can give them a whole new career which means they can then be enjoyed by both children and adults alike. Freddie and Nigel were not broken to ride before, so as their owner did not want them sat in a field being lawnmowers for the rest of their lives, she chose to have them broken to harness.
