"Ross Roy" is a concert overture composed by Jacob de Haan, one of the most well-known contemporary composers for wind band.
The piece was named after Ross Roy House, a historic building and school house at St. Peters Lutheran College in Brisbane, Australia, where the commissioning ensemble is based.
The work reflects student life at the college and symbolizes youthful energy, growth, and development. De Haan has described the piece as a musical portrait of the formative and inspirational period students spend at school, echoing themes of learning, struggle, and achievement.
