If you’re expecting this to be a super comprehensive guide on how to ride trains in Tokyo, you may be disappointed. It’s not my intention to create a tutorial on how to catch trains in Japan. Nor is it to extensively go over the history of Tokyo’s train system either. But instead to give a summarisation for those who have little to no knowledge on the subject, and hopefully an enjoyable viewing experience for those who do.

There are already tons of great videos and channels here on youtube dedicated to teaching people about Tokyo’s trains that do a much better job than I ever could. So I’ll leave a playlist below to some of the videos I found most helpful in my own studies.

Wether you’re looking for history, useful tips, to study, memorise, or just familiarise yourself with the train lines, my main goal here is for people to walk away with a better understanding of the train system than what they came in with, and perhaps even give a little peace of mind for those of you feeling anxious about an upcoming trip to Tokyo.
