BB virus or BB Ransomware is one of the ransomware variants belonging to the MedusaLocker ransomware family.

What is MBR (Master Boot Record)?
Master Boot Record (MBR) is a small program that executes every time the computer boots, even before the operating system loads. It is used for the start-up processes and has information on bootable partitions. The MBR resides on the first sector of the hard disk.

MBRLock Ransomware:
MBRLock Ransomware ransomware modifies the master boot record of the victim’s computer and locks the system So the system is unable to boot. And asks for a ransom in exchange for a decryption key.

MBR Locker ransomware and malware modifying both MBR(Master Boot Record) and GPT(GUID Partition Table).

Petya was the first ransomware to encrypt the Master Boot Record.
