Landscape turns alien....
It was a beautiful day for a hike. 60'F. Lava Cast Forest in Central Oregon. This is a short 1 mile hike into an area that looks like another planet. This is part of the Newberry Crater. Newberry is the largest volcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and last erupted about 1300 years ago. This is what created this amazing landscape. There are 2 lakes inside of the crater with fantastic fishing. Wait until you see part 2.
This is one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the US.
