18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar has been named as the suspect who murdered his mother and brother, and later killed six people at a school in Canada.
Van Rootselaar opened fire in the library at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia on Tuesday afternoon.
The teen was understood to have used their mother's name, Strang, socially and at school.
Van Rootselaar was named by Royal Canadian Mounted Police and described as a woman.
The RCMP explained that Jesse began identifying as female six years ago and said there had been multiple call-outs to their home related to their mental health over the years.
