In Part 3 of Day 2 of our Gopeng family adventure, we continued our exploration after leaving Agrotech Farm by heading to the Lumba Kuda area in Gopeng. Our first stop was the Hup Tuck Soya Sauce factory, where sauces are still fermented the traditional way. The shop’s interior hasn’t changed in decades, giving the place a nostalgic charm that took us back in time. It was fascinating to see this heritage business still thriving in modern times!
After our tour, we returned to the homestay to rest up before heading out for dinner at Wah Chai Restaurant in Gopeng town around 6pm. This "choo char" spot is known for its steamed fish with chye por (preserved radish), so we ordered a large steamed snakehead fish, which was absolutely delicious. The food here was incredibly affordable, making it one of our best-value meals of the trip!
Back at the homestay, I was ready to call it a night, but around midnight, I got the best surprise—a thoughtful birthday cake brought by my friends and family, who had gone all the way to Ipoh to get it! I was so touched by their effort to make my birthday extra special. A huge thank you to everyone who made this day unforgettable!
