The role of an assistant practitioner can help address current gaps in the service and provide service users with more holistic care including a focus on physical health and therapeutic interventions. The roles are designed to work across multidisciplinary teams and professional boundaries, helping reduce the gap between registered and unregistered staff.
BSMHFT has joined other mental health trusts to work with Staffordshire University to develop a foundation degree specific to mental health and, the first cohort of assistant practitioners from Tamarind, Ardenleigh and Reaside, have now started to study for this qualification.
