Описание: Today I spoke with James Valliant, a former prosecutor, author of "The Passion of Ayn Rand's Critics," and co-author of the book "Creating Christ."

We discussed many topics, including:

• How the confirmation bias leads Christians to believe first, before they have reasons to believe and proof for the truth of their worldview.
• The importance of admitting and diving into the ways that childhood indoctrination affected our ability to logically analyze alternative ideas.
• The importance of being more committed to the truth than to our current worldview.
• How we were taught that Yahweh and Jesus are the standard of good and that they care for their people, so bowing the knee to the Bible becomes not just something to obey because god was seen as the King, but as the loving King who could be trusted.
• To make progress, being able to change your perspective as new facts and knowledge present themselves.
• How Christians fail to flip Pascal's Wager on themselves and realize that they really are to be most pitied if the resurrection is not true.
• The very poisonous aspects of religion on our lives.
• The importance of embracing selfish pleasures.
• The importance of rejecting religion on the methodological, ethical, and psychological levels.
• How Christianity has typically been the enemy of human progress.
• The need to stop blaming ourselves for what we didn't know before we knew it.
• Why beliefs should never be based on bribes, threats, or a lack of information.
• How indoctrination and religious manipulation of children is a form of psychological child abuse.
• The importance of admitting to children that we, as adults, don't know everything.
• How asserting a god as a prior assumption is just another form of psychological manipulation.
• Admitting that the Yahweh character is portrayed as both bizarre and psychopathic.
• Dealing with the Christian contention that we all have a "god-shaped void" in our heart.
