The International South Corridor takes on the form of a structuring investment, which enables to extend the Sines, Setubal, and Lisbon Port Hinterland, hence contributing towards an increase in the Gross National Product and inducing job creation, which is decisive to Portugal social cohesion.
Many steps will be taken with this intent through the upgrade, electrification, and signalling of sections of the railway network along with the construction of a new section between Évora Norte and Elvas with an extension of approximately 80 km – the largest built in the last 100 years.
