Porsche 911 Suspension Failures and Fixes - Lowering the 996 and UN-lowering the 997
Bradley's 911 996 has been in need of new suspension for a while, but because his daily commute is only a couple of miles, it hasn't been a priority to fix. But when the buyer of my old 996 upgraded his suspension to coilovers, he saved the Bilstein B8 shocks and struts, and the H&R lowering springs. Bradley bought my old suspension, and now we get to put it on his car!
Shift gears to my 997...
On the way home from my epic journey to the Black Hills in South Dakota, the front struts failed. I finished the drive, and when I got the car back home, I swapped them out for stock struts, and I went back to my stock coil springs. Ever since I installed the Emc2Design front lip spoiler, having the car lowered has been a hassle around town. And since this is my daily driven Porsche 911, I had to memorize all the pot holes, man hole covers, and speed bumps. I am now much happier with the daily driving experience, although the car looked AMAZING with lowering springs!
