Описание: Today I’m trying for a quick turnaround on a song. This is “I’ve got a Feeling I’m Falling,” from 1929. It’s by Fats Waller and Harry Link, with lyrics by Billy Rose – a massive conglomeration of talent to have produced a song so light and insubstantial. The melody is the sort of thing Fats Waller probably tossed off by the dozen before lunch; the lyrics are slight and kind of obvious. The 1920s must have produced a thousand songs just like this one. But despite (or because of) all that, I’ve loved this song for a long time, especially in Fats Waller’s piano solo version. It was recorded by pretty much everyone in the 1930s-1950s, from Annette Hanshaw (who I think had the first hit with it) to Ella Fitzgerald to Earl “Fatha” Hines. The appeal of the song for me lies in its sturdy stride piano with a solid bass line; I’ve tried to emphasize that here. My version lacks a real introduction or conclusion, and there are a couple of wobbly spots in the middle; more practice and thought might have improved these, but I really wanted to get the song out of my head, so here it is.
