Konkan Odyssey - An Epic Bike Ride from Pune to Goa via Guhagar, Hedvi, Ganpati Pule & Ratnagiri.

When we started from Guhagar, we noticed that there was a puncture. Today’s ride was going to be super adventurous and interesting as we were taking the coastal route, covering Ganpati Pule, Mandwa, Ratnagiri, and then finally reaching Goa.

A Beautiful Stop at Hedvi

We stopped at Hedvi when we saw a beautiful and big temple. It was the Swami Samarth Temple, around 20-25 years old. There, I met an old lady who was happy to see me riding a bike as a pilion rider all the way to Goa. She was quite excited and appreciated my journey.

I was wearing my riding gear, and walking in it wasn’t easy because of its weight. While going down the temple stairs, I got a little hurt, but safety comes first, so the gear was necessary.

Taking a Ferry to Ganpati Pule

To reach Ganpati Pule, we had to take a ferry. Moving forward, I saw a beautiful coconut farm from a bridge, and the perspective was breathtaking. We were riding parallel to the sea, and I was surprised to see that some coastal areas also have very tall trees, making them look like mountain regions. The sound of the sea added to the magical experience.

When we reached the ferry point, we saw that cars and bikes were also being transported. Cars were parked inside first, followed by bikes. It was an amazing experience, and in just 10 minutes, we were on the other side. A fleet of cars was already waiting to board the next ferry.

Meeting a Russian Biker

On the ferry, I met a traveler from Russia who was riding a Royal Enfield and heading to Goa, just like us. It was interesting to meet a fellow traveler from another country sharing the same adventurous journey.

Lunch Break & Solkadhi

We stopped for lunch, where Rohan had a veg thali, and I ordered an egg thali. I also enjoyed Solkadhi, one of my favorite drinks. After lunch, we checked the tyre pressure before continuing our ride.

Exploring Ganpati Pule & Ratnagiri

As we passed through Ganpati Pule, it looked like a popular tourist destination with a crowded atmosphere. We then entered Ratnagiri, riding through its market area before continuing our journey into the dark.

Tea Break at Rajapur

We stopped for tea in a small town called Rajapur. The highway roads were excellent, but since it was getting late, we needed to find a place to stay for the night.

Finding a Homestay – Dev Homestay, Malewada

During the ride, I spotted a beautiful homestay called Dev Homestay in Malewada. It looked perfect for the night, so we decided to stop there.

The room was huge, and since the town sleeps early, all restaurants were closed. However, the homestay owner was very kind and offered to prepare food for us.

And this turned out to be the best meal of my entire Konkan trip – authentic Malvani food!

Next Morning – Breakfast with a View

The next morning, we had breakfast at a small restaurant facing a coconut farm. We enjoyed Misal Pav and Kanda Bhaji, which were freshly made and crispy.

We were now just 8 km away from the Goa border. It was time to say goodbye to Dev Homestay, which I would highly recommend. The owner, originally from Mumbai, had turned his passion into this wonderful homestay, and the hospitality was amazing.

A Final Stop Before Goa

On the way, we crossed a bridge and saw a boat. Out of curiosity, we went closer to take a look. To our surprise, a group of small puppies had made the boat their home—it was such an adorable sight!

Finally, We Reached Goa!

After an incredible ride through the Konkan region, experiencing stunning landscapes, meeting amazing people, and enjoying delicious food, we finally reached Goa—ready for the next adventure!
