(2 Mar 2009) HEADLINE: March storm dumps snow across East Coast
CAPTION: A late-winter storm that closed schools from Georgia to Maine Monday is expected to finally stop dumping snow after midnight, but not before effecting most of the East Coast. (March 1)
[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE]
New York's famous yellow taxis slogged through snow and slush Monday. The Big Apple--and much of the East Coast felt the fury of an early March snowstorm that was expected to bring up to a foot of snow in places.
At least one person in Times Square didn't see it as a winter wonderland.

NOT AT ALL. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SUMMER TO COME IN.
(SOT: TED SHAFFREY/THE ASSOCIATED PRESS)
THE STORM HAS MADE AIR TRAVEL DIFFICULT. AT LEAST 900 FLIGHTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED IN BOSTON AND HERE IN NEW YORK. THOSE CANCELLATIONS HAVE A RIPPLE EFFECT ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
A high school band from Lankenshire, Illinois was just trying to get home.

(0:43) IT'S VERY VERY STRESSFUL TO REBOOK 150 PLANE TICKETS WHEN EVERYONE ELSE IS TRYING TO REBOOK AS WELL.
Those cancellations were evident at the world's busiest airport. Huge numbers of people waited in line to reschedule flights in Atlanta.

(1:26) IT'S JUST BEEN STANDING AROUND FOR 2 HOURS. AND YOU HAVE NO OPTION. THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.
In Philadelphia, 16-year old Gus (pil-AHH-tay) Pallate snowboarded down the steps Rocky made so famous when he ran up them.

(11:58:21) STAYED UP ALL NIGHT WAITING FOR THIS MORNING.
(NATS SCRAPING)
For others, the storm was more hassle than adventure.

(12:05:19) I THOUGHT I'M GOING TO BE LATE FOR WORK. THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT, SO NOW I'M CLEARING IT OFF GETTING READY TO GO.
Snow also blew through the nation's capital. The federal government told workers they could come in late or not even come in at all.
Even in Boston, where snow is common, some people weren't happy to see it.
(SOT: GREG STERNDALE)
BOY. IT'S A LITTLE LATE IN THE SEASON FOR THIS.
Three people in Massachusetts and Rhode Island died in snow-related car crashes.
The National Weather Service says the last of the snow will move north of Maine after midnight.
