The story follows Kate’s life from her abusive childhood through her marriage to George Barker and her subsequent transformation into the matriarch of a violent gang that robbed banks and terrorized the Midwest in the 1930s. During this time the gang associated with other infamous criminals like Alvin Karpis (Frank Stallone), until FBI agent Melvin Purvis (Dan Cortese), started his ultimate pursuit under the newly formed Bureau of Investigation led by J. Edgar Hoover.

Directed by veteran action/genre filmmaker Mark L.
