Welcome to a brand new Let's Play on my channel, folks -- an LP of one of my favorite Pokemon games, Pokemon Y, and not only that, but also under Nuzlocke rules! You can scroll further down to view the rules to this kind of LP, but it's essentially Pokemon Hard Mode. It was created by someone several years ago who thought Pokemon Ruby was too easy and came up with a bunch of self-imposed rules to make the game harder for himself (FYI, the name "Nuzlocke" came from a Nuzleaf on his team that he thought resembled John Locke from Lost; the more you know).

Anyway, some of my more ardent viewers will know that, on my now-dead gaming channel, a couple years back, I tried doing a Nuzlocke of Pokemon Emerald, and it didn't go well. And by that, I mean I got absolutely bodied by May's Combusken during the battle near Hoenn's Cycling Road, meaning I didn't even make it to the third Gym before the Nuzlocke ended in complete and utter failure. But, it's been a couple years, and I'd like to think I'm just slighlty wiser and better at Pokemon in general, so I figured I'd give it another go! Plus, if I ever want to try some cool Nuzlocke variant (like Ace Trainer Liam's Wonder Trivialocke), I figured I should at least have one successful vanilla Nuzlocke under my belt first, right?

Let's step into the region of Kalos and begin our Pokemon journey, Nuzlocke style!!

** NUZLOCKE RULES **

▶. You may only capture the first Pokemon that you encounter in each new area you explore. If it faints or flees, you get no second chances and cannot catch anything in that area.

(Exceptions will be made in the form of the Shiny Clause and the Duplicate Clause.)

▶ To increase the emotional attachment to your Pokemon, everything you catch or obtain must be nicknamed.

▶ If it faints, it dies. All "dead" Pokemon must be either immediately released or placed into a "Graveyard" box in the PC.

▶ If you run out of usable Pokemon, it's game over, and the Nuzlocke will end.

(For me, "usable Pokemon" will include those in the party and the PC, so as long as I have living Pokemon to withdraw in the PC, the Nuzlocke continues until I absolutely run out of Pokemon to use.)
