Authentic Dishes With My Personal Touch 😍
Ingredients
White Rice -1/2 cup
Toor Dal -1/4cup
Mustard Seeds -1/2tsp
Fenugreek Seeds -2 pinch
Cumin -2 pinch
Curry leaves -
Dry red chilli -2
Vegetables -
Tomato -1 Small
Tamarind - gooseberry size
Small onion -6 or onion -1/2 of 1 small
Water -31/2 cups
Salt -
Asafoetida Powder -1/4tsp
Jaggery -1 small piece (opt)
For Masala
Pepper -1tsp
Cumin -1tsp
Dry red chilli -3
Fenugreek -1/4tsp
Coriander Seeds -11/2tsp
Grated Coconut -4tbsp
Ghee -1tsp
Method
Roast 1 tsp pepper , 3 whole red chilly , 1 tsp cumin seeds, ¼ tsp fenugreek , 1 ½ coriander seeds and ¼ tsp of ghee on ow flame.roast for 1-2 mins. Add 4 tbsp of grated coconut. Stir continuously till it is brown. Grind it to fine paste
Soak ½ glass rice for 20 mins and ¼ toor daal separately .
Add oil/ghee to your cooker. Splutter some mustard , fenugreek , cumin , 2 red chillies and curry leaves. Add the vegetables of your choice. ( carrot, beans and shallots). Saute . add tomatoes. Saute . Add asafoetida. Saute. Add tamarind juice. When the juice is boiled add salt. Add the ground masala paste. Allow it to cook for 5- 7 mins on medium flame.
Add the soaked rice and toor daal. Add 3 glass of water. Mix well. Check the salt. Add jaggery (optional). Cook for 4-5 whistles.
Add some ghee and coriander leaves (if required).
