Pretoriuskop rest camp lies in the south western corner of South Africa's Kruger National Park. Pretoriuskop is also the highest camp in the Kruger National Park, which means is generally a bit cooler than the rest of the park, and also has higher rainfall. Subsequently, the vegetation around Pretoriuskop is very dense. This makes game viewing very tricky! It's so dense, in fact, that I hardly ever come to Pretoriuskop when I visit the Kruger National Park.

It's a shame, really, because Pretoriuskop rest camp is on of the Kruger National Park's nicest camps. It's the oldest camp in Kruger and is steeped in history. It also has the nicest swimming pool of all the camps, located in a rocky part of camp. The gardens are beautifully kept and attract loads of birds and butterflies and there's even a short informative trail - the Sable Walking Trail - that takes you from one information board to the next.

If you're looking for a camp to relax in, Pretoriuskop is a great bet! But if you're looking for a camp in a great game viewing area, I'd give Pretoriuskop a skip.
