UK rocked by ex-Prince Andrew and Mandelson arrests over Epstein files

Another high profile public figure arrested by British police is the UK's former ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson, one of the most well-known politicians of the last few decades.

Both men deny any wrongdoing but the arrests have had a seismic impact on the Royal family and the UK’s Labour government.

Mandelson was arrested after the Commons Speaker, Lindsay Hoyle, passed on information to the police that he might be a flight risk.

Mandelson's lawyer say he had agreed to an interview next month and the decision to take him into custody was prompted by a "baseless" suggestion he was planning to "take up permanent residence abroad".
