Inception Date
The inception date is where you record when a contract, subscription, permit, or task originally started. If you are unsure of the exact start date or if the item is a task where a start date is not relevant, simply enter today's date. A date is required in this field but do not overthink it, the expiration date is what drives your reminder timing, not the inception date.

Expiration Date
The expiration date is the most important date field in RenewAlert. This is where you enter the actual date the item expires, renews, or is due not the date you want to be reminded. Your reminder timing is configured separately in the next section.

Use the expiration date field to track:
— Permits and licenses — health permits, liquor licenses, business licenses, lodging permits, pool permits, sign permits
