In my humble opinion, the first chapter of the Blackwater Park is the hardest level in the game. The amount of actions I had to perform and their difficulty surpasses both Orphanage and Barbershop levels. I was stuck in Blackwater for two weeks and that's with the help from the 1.0.444.0 patch which has slightly lowered the detection speed. I could have made it easier if I waited for every conversation to end or shot the computer (2:52) to prevent the guard from re-enabling the scanner, but that would have taken a lot more time and a lot less effort. My hyper-active masochistic version of Agent 47 would not have any of it.
Let me explain my general strategy for the first part:
-- The main goal in this chapter is to override the scanner from the security room. I wanted to do it fast AND without cheesing by shooting the security computer (which disables the scanner permanently) AND with minimum amount of distraction shots (I shot my pistols just twice). The problem is that there are 4 guards constantly moving around the security room and it is somewhat difficult to distract them with objects (they react weirdly if you hit the room's walls instead of a floor) or pistol shots (they can hear gunshots even if you shoot from the corridor). So I must wait for the right moment to distract them and get to the computer. There are several good opportunities to do that: at 1:00, 1:20, 2:00, 2:15, 2:35, 2:45, 3:10, 3:30, 3:45, etc. if you count from the loading of the level.
-- Another problem here is that while most of the people start moving immediately from the beginning of the level, the head of security (the black woman in the suit) will only start her patrol after you cross one of the invisible trigger lines (either near the columns in the lobby or near the basement stairs). I had to time my actions during first 2 minutes so the script that triggers her movement (2:10) coincides with one of the time windows for disabling the computer.
-- Also, since I have decided not to disable the computer permanently, I had to move around quickly enough to get to the elevator in time before the security guard could re-enable it. Mia helps me with that by delaying him with conversation. If I disable the scanner too early before she starts speaking, the security guard will ignore her and get to the computer faster than I could get to the elevator. Of course, I could have distracted him with a pistol shot but for me it seemed less clean than properly timing my actions.
