In April 1978 I had the pleasure of being an associate producer of the Connie Francis album "Who's Happy Now" recorded in my home city of London. Included on the album is "What Have I Got, I Got You Babe", written by premier British songwriter Les Reed OBE in collaboration with Barry Mason.
Connie had previously cut some of her biggest selling LPs in London and it was in the English capital where, in 1969, she had completed her MGM Records contract with 'Connie Francis Sings the Songs of Les Reed', on which the maestro had written all the songs, accompanied her on the piano, arranged, directed and produced at his Wessex Reed studio.
When Connie learned that she would be recording the 'Who's Happy Now' set in London, she immediately contacted Les, asking if he could provide her with more songs. "What Have I Got" is one of three that she chose to include in this collection.
The recording is exclusively owned by Connie Francis and released on her Concetta Records label.
