Sugarloaf, ME: Bucksaw Express

Описание: This Doppelmayr Spacejet high-speed quad was initially installed in 1996 as the Swift Current quad at Big Sky, MT. In 2021, the lift was replaced with a Doppelmayr D-Line high-speed six. Two years later, in 2023, the lift was reinstalled at Sugarloaf as part of the West Mountain expansion, which introduced 12 new trails for beginner and intermediate skiers. The name pays homage to the Bucksaw double, a WSO Städeli double removed in 2015. That lift ran along Windrow. Like the Bucksaw double, the new lift ends at Bullwinkle’s, but this time it ends where the West Mountain double used to end. The lift now features a Uni-G outer shell for easier maintenance, similar to Seven Brothers at Loon and Shedhorn at Big Sky. A new drive system was installed to improve reliability. Length is 6576 feet, and vertical rise is 1441 feet. The lift has 138 chairs, 28 towers, a loading conveyor, and a grip maintenance bay at the base. The speed in this recording is 861 fpm.

As part of the expansion, the West Mountain double was shortened to half its length, terminating at the former midstation.
Extra trivia: Some of the chairs on this lift were temporarily used on Sundance’s Outlaw Express before the official chairs came in, because of supply chain delays.
