Saifuddin: Longer probe needed for teen IS suspects

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said, despite criticism from human rights advocates regarding the use of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) 2012 on minors, a thorough probe is essential.

Saifuddin said preliminary investigations and device analysis revealed that the suspects were aware of the risks involved in terrorist activities.

He said the arrests were the result of meticulous work by the Special Branch, which monitored social media and various online platforms.

Investigations found that extremist ideologies are now being spread through new media, including online games, which indirectly expose users to such beliefs.
