Landing BIG Fall Bass on the Meramec River!

Описание: It's fall and time to land some big fall bass! Chris and Billy venture out on the lower Meramec River in Billy's canoe in search of big fall bass. In this video, the guys talk about the what, where and why of their strategy during chilly fall weather. To go along with catching some big fall largemouth and spotted bass, Chris and Billy do something that no one ever plans to do and could take a turn for the worst!

During the fall, the water is cooling off and baitfish are looking for warmer water. As such, bass need to eat and they will be following the baitfish into that warmer water. The warmest water is going to be in shallower areas such as creeks and lakes connected to the river. Baitfish will migrate into those areas to find food and such. Bass know this and will hunt them into these places. Look for structure like fallen brush or drop offs that can be anywhere from 5-10 feet deep. The sun will warm these locations enough to draw all the fish in. Also, look for signs of bait fish boils being blown up by predators (largemouth, spotted, and smallmouth bass, crappie, white bass, and gar) and other non-fish predators such as seagulls and eagles.

When targeting these bass, use lures such as crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, spinnerbaits with plastic paddle tail and curly tail trailers, bass jigs, plastic swimbaits and anything else that imitates baitfish. If fishing in clearer water, fish lures that are more natural looking. If fishing in murkier water, use brighter, louder baits that bass can hone in on.
