Cooking and dehydrating chili with a Presto Dehydrator from Amazon. It's simple to make delicious chili, dehydrate it and rehydrate it when camping! I just wanted to have some fun shooting and editing this video! Please see the recipe and instructions below:
GRAMMY'S "CHILI CON CARNE"
1-1.5 lb. Lean Ground Beef (the leaner the beef, the better it will dehydrate!)
1 can red kidney beans
3-4 cans of tomatoes
1 medium yellow onion
1 green pepper
4 tsp chili powder
2 tsp salt
Add 4 cups of boiling water and mix all ingredients.
After chili is cooked- boil 1/2 cup of rice in 2 cups of water and add to the chili.
Allow for 1.5 to 2 hours to cook on low heat.
To Dehydrate:
Use a bowl or container to measure out portion sizes.
Place the portioned out chili on a tray (parchment paper is a no go!)
Dehydrate 12-15 hours - I found that 15 hours was perfect.
If using the Presto dehydrator, there are NO temperature settings to adjust.
After 15 hours, remove the chili from the dehydrate and either vacuum seal or Ziploc the chili and freeze. In my experience, when not using the vacuum sealer the chili lasts AT LEAST 6 months in the freezer.

I am still working on editing the video from my solo trip on the Oswegatchie River. I will have that for you soon!
