✍🏼OBJECTIVES📝
Students will be able to do the following:
• Define ROYGBIV ✅
• Understand how water is important in creating a rainbow. ✅
• Define the word REFRACTION. ✅
• Create their own Rainbow at home. ✅
😳WHAT IS RAINBOW AND HOW IS IT MADE?😱
Have you ever wondered how 🌈 rainbows 🌈 are made? 😮 🤔
Rainbows 🌈 are most often a circular arts that have an iconic color scheme known frequently as ROYGBIV. And RoyGBIV isn’t a person, it’s an abbreviation to help us remember the colors that make up rainbows: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.
Do rainbows always appear in that order? They do! Light 💡 is made up of a lot of colors we can’t see with the human eye. In fact, despite being made of various colors, the light 💡 from the sun appears to be white. But when a beam of light hits water droplets in a very specific angle, the beams of sunlight bend and separate into colors we can see in the form of a rainbow. The bending that happens with water droplets 💧 is called REFRACTION.
The angle for each color of a 🌈rainbow🌈 is different because each color slows down at different speeds when it enters a raindrop. Light coming from different angles through a raindrop 💦forms the rainbows we are able to see with stripes of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet aka the ROYGBIV pattern.
That’s why we’re used to seeing 🌈rainbows🌈 during or after rainfall🌨️, because we need sunlight ☀️ and a lot of water in the air to create a rainbow!
💪So let’s try to recreate this process by creating our own Rainbow! 💪

➡️➡️➡️💫Rainbow DIY💫⬅️⬅️⬅️
INGREDIENTS:
• A Flashlight 🔦
• 1 Glass of Water 💦
• White Sheet of Paper 🖌
• Masking Tape
• A surface like a table
RECIPE:
• First lay out your white sheet of paper flat on your surface
• Grab the masking tape and put two pieces of tape on your flashlight to create a small slit across the top of the flashlight
• Grab your glass of water and set it down on your sheet of paper
• If it’s too bright, turn off the lights.
• Shine your flashlight through the glass of water
• Watch your rainbow appear!
