To perform the Squat, you'll need a barbell and weight plates. Begin by standing with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes slightly pointed outwards. Position the barbell across your upper back, resting it on your traps or using a supportive squat pad. Take a firm grip on the barbell, hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
Engage your core, brace your abs, and maintain a straight back as you initiate the movement. Bend at your hips and knees simultaneously, as if you're sitting back into an imaginary chair. Keep your chest lifted, and your gaze forward or slightly upward.
Lower your body until your thighs are parallel to the ground or slightly below, ensuring your knees stay aligned with your toes and tracking in the same direction. Focus on pushing through your heels and maintaining an even distribution of weight throughout your feet.
Pause briefly in the bottom position, then drive through your heels to stand back up, fully extending your hips and knees. Keep your core tight and maintain an upright posture throughout the entire movement. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
