Here you can see and hear the Decap organ playing the sirtaki from Zorba the Greek.
The machine you see is mechanical dance organ from 1937, still playing at its original location: Cafe Beveren in Antwerp.
The organ consists of a drum kit, a saxophone, an accordion and a variety of different kinds of organ pipes.
The accordion opens an closes and the keys play live. Everything of the drum kit plays exept the drum on the right side and the lower cymbal because the drumstick can't hit that simbal (it's an old organ, it malfunctions from time to time). The saxophone does not play but the valves open and close and are synchronised with the music.
On the left side you can watch the organ pipes and the cardboard books that tell the organ what to play.
The company who made the organ, Decap, still exists and they still repair old Decap organs and create new organs!
To play one song on the organ you have to pay one euro.
