Call of Duty: World War II was a nightmarish landscape of half-baked ideas and cliches, unnecessary changes to features that didn’t need to be changed, and a headstrong attitude towards everything that needed to be changed. The campaign is a collection of war cliches and hero-worship strung along into a lackluster story. Where World at War excelled at highlighting the atrocities and violence of the Second World War, CoD World War II excelled at blending into the crowd of forgotten World War 2 games. The multiplayer was plagued with unnecessary changes, and by the time they tried to fix the issues with the Divisions system, weapon balance, and everything else the fanbase complained about since launch day, it was too late. Zombies had a lot of promise and a strong foundation, but the DLC maps were all underwhelming compared to the high standard set by the launch map. It’s not a bad Zombies mode, but there’s a lot better out there. World War II could have been a lot better if the developers hadn’t fought their fans tooth and nail to keep the game as it was. It’s a shame. It could have been so much more.

How the score works: It's just a simple rating out of ten. A score of five is a neutral feeling. A score of ten is all positive feelings, with a score of one being all negative feelings. A score of ten doesn't mean there aren't small faults or bugs in the game, or features that would have been cool if they existed. It just means either those faults or bugs haven't affected me or don't detract from the experience in a significant way.
