NEW TRAVEL WARNING FOR THAILAND | KNOW BEFORE YOU GO | EPG EP 214

Описание: On May 19, 2026, Thailand's Cabinet officially approved the end of the 60-day visa-free stay for tourists from 93 countries — and replaced it with something considerably less generous.

The 60-day policy was introduced in July 2024 as a post-pandemic tourism push. Less than two years later, it's gone. The Thai government's stated reasons: illegal work, unauthorized businesses, foreigners using the visa-free window to effectively live in Thailand on the cheap, and real estate being illegally rented out by foreign nationals.

Here's what you actually need to know:

— Most nationalities revert to 30 days visa-free
— Some countries are being cut to just 15 days
— A 30-day extension at a Thai immigration office is still expected to be available
— No exact effective date has been announced yet — the Cabinet resolution still needs to be formally communicated to immigration agencies
— If you need longer than 30 days, Thailand's Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) for remote workers and digital nomads is now the cleanest legal option

Thailand is still one of the best travel destinations in the world. Bangkok, Chiang Mai, the islands, the food, the cost of living — none of that changed on May 19th. But if you were planning a longer stay and banking on 60 days, you need to update your plans now.
