The SBCA itself has revealed in a report that from 2005 to 2012 more than 200 illegal buildings were constructed in Lyari and adjoining areas only but no action was taken against these buildings. The builders themselves have fled after the construction and sale of these buildings. According to sources, due to lack of interest from SBCA officials, even big builders are now constructing multi-storey buildings on plots which are not declared commercial.
