Jigmelangstho is a beautiful and magnificent lake which is suited at the elevation of 3870m above sea level and it's located in high up in the mountains of thimphu dzongkhag. People can reached to this lake from tshalung ney Goemba and it literally takes 4hrs from tshalung ney Goemba which is it's starting point of hike.The trail is suited beautifully along the river and it's gentle slope and you will find some beautiful wooden bridges along the way. Some tourist or local people can visit this lake while doing a most famous Trekking called Druk path trek whereby people will be traveling from paro to thimphu or vice versa along this lake.


History
According to oral history, There was a girl herding a group of cows from a place called Jimi below the tshalung ney Goemba and among many cows there was a mischievous ox. One fine day that mischievous ox was chased away by their owner due to his actions so that ox is believe to went up to present lake and that cow herder girl was chasing ox. After reaching to the particular place where present lake is located, cow herder girl is said to have hit on ox head with a stick as ox was very stubborn, not going back home. After hitting ox, it's believed that ox made a two stream flowing through his nose and finally formed a lake. So now girl is believe to be residing inside lake as a mermaid and ox is said to be the protector of this lake.
