1. USA
Pfizer and BioNTech say vaccine was more than 90% effective in preventing Covid-19
Dow and S&P 500 hit new intraday record highs
The Dow rallied more than 800 points, biggest one-day gain since June 5
Dow surged more than 1,600 points at one point
The S&P 500 gained 1.2% 
Travel stocks were soaring
American Airlines, Delta and United all jumped more than 15%
Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean surged more than 25% each 
Nasdaq Composite fell 1.5%
Investors abandoned stay-at-home plays - Zoom Video and Netflix were some of the casualties 

2. ASIA
Stocks in Asia-Pacific traded higher on Tuesday morning 
Japanese Nikkei rose 1.46% in early trade
The Topix index gained 1.84%
The Kospi was above the flatline
Shares in Australia advanced, S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.49% 

3. EU
The Stoxx 600 closed up by 4%
Banks surged more than 12% to lead gains
All sectors except healthcare traded in positive territory
Oil, insurance, media and travel sectors also saw strong gains 

4. OIL 
Oil surged more than 8%
Brent crude was up $3.11, or 7.9%, at $42.56 a barrel
US WTI crude settled up $3.15, or 8.5%, to $40.29 

5. GOLD
Spot gold was down 4.8% at $1,857.61 per ounce
US gold futures settled down 5% at $1,854.40
