United States Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU), alongside U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the amphibious transport dock USS New Orleans (LPD-18), conducted loading operations at White Beach Naval Base, Okinawa, Japan, on January 27, 2026.
The operation ensured full accountability of personnel and equipment prior to departing for maritime patrol operations. As the only continuously forward-deployed Marine Expeditionary Unit, the 31st MEU serves as the primary crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
With integrated amphibious, air, and ground combat capabilities, the 31st MEU provides a flexible, rapid, and lethal force, ready to execute a wide range of missions—from combat operations to humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
