In celebration of Black History Month on Feb. 5, 2026, Guttman Community College-CUNY, NAACP New York State Conference and NAACP Mid-Manhattan Branch brought together key community leaders for "Unapologetically Black: Voting, Voice & Visibility in 2026 and Beyond" – a discussion on the intersection of voting rights, civil rights and cultural visibility as we move into a pivotal election year.
Featured speakers included Letitia James, New York State attorney general, and Alphonso David, Global Black Economic Forum CEO.
Guest panelists were L. Joy Williams, NAACP New York State Conference president, Vanessa L. Gibson, Bronx borough president, and Lurie Daniel-Favors, Center for Law & Social Justice executive director.
The event was moderated by Ny Whitaker, former White House senior advisor.
