A great find out metal detecting today — uncovering what appears to be a prehistoric penannular armlet, dating to the Bronze Age or Early Iron Age.
These solid open rings were worn on the wrist or forearm and were slipped on rather than clasped. The thick curved form and penannular (open) shape are typical of prehistoric personal adornment, sometimes also interpreted as early ring money.
Although incomplete, this fragment still tells a story of everyday life thousands of years ago. Finds like this are a reminder that even broken objects can carry real archaeological importance.

What do you think — armlet or ring money? Let me know in the comments.
