The Central Government has sought a detailed report from the West Bengal administration over an alleged protocol lapse during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Darjeeling. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan has directed the West Bengal Chief Secretary to submit a report by 5 PM today explaining the circumstances of the incident.

The Ministry of Home Affairs noted irregularities in the protocol meant for welcoming the President of India, the country’s highest constitutional authority. The Centre has also asked for clarification regarding the last-minute venue change of the International Santhal Conference in Darjeeling.
