Dr. Megha explains that controlled fasting, especially in the form of 12 to 16-hour intermittent fasting, can help the liver utilize stored fat as energy. This process, known as lipolysis, helps reduce liver fat, improve insulin sensitivity, and enhance liver enzyme activity. As a result, symptoms like bloating, heaviness, and indigestion may also reduce over time.
However, Dr. Megha also emphasizes that not all types of fasting are safe.
