‘Baid Alik’ video is a tribute to the incredible story of Naila Ayesh and the Palestinian women's movement. Love stories bound to a larger reality, stories of women in the resistance, and of love under occupation. Stories that have haunted us: lovers separated by a wall, waiting for the other to be arrested, murdered, or persecuted. People who chose to share the same destiny: resisting the occupation.
This video shows glimpses into the incredible story of Naila Ayesh, born in Nablus, an active student and organizer of the women’s movement in Gaza in the 1980s. A key figure in the First Intifada, she devoted her life to the resistance, forcing the world to acknowledge, for the first time, the Palestinians right to self-determination. At a moment when thousands of men were arrested, deported, or killed during Israel’s repression of the uprising, women stepped into leadership roles. Yet the centrality of women and nonviolent resistance in the Intifada has too often been overlooked.
Naila spent years building the foundations of economic independence for women and self-sufficiency for Palestinians women under occupation.

This video is, in sum, a tribute to all women, from any background, race, gender, or faith, who are willing to plant daily the seed of another possible world.
