A major financial scam has come to light in the Jajpur district Education Department, where funds amounting to nearly ₹5 crore were fraudulently withdrawn by showing retired and deceased employees as active staff. According to a special audit report, officials of the Korei Block Education Office allegedly extended service periods of 19 retired teachers and used their HRMS IDs to generate around 480 fake salary bills. The salary amounts were transferred to the bank accounts of a key accused individual, his wife, son, and relatives. Following the revelation, the District Education Officer has filed a Vigilance case against 11 individuals, including current BEO Sudarshan Malik, and approached Jajpur SP and Korei Police. Departmental secretary N. Thirumalla has also alerted the Jajpur Collector regarding the financial irregularities.
