At the 2022 WTT Youth Contender tournament in Platja d’Aro (Spain), Lea Lachenmayer met Chen Chi-Shiuan from Chinese Taipei in her semifinal (SF) encounter. Earlier, Lea had lost one very close match but she moved on to the knockout phase as the group’s second and beat two European players in the knockout phase. As of the quarterfinal, she was the only European player left in the event but she knew how to deal with Liu Ru-Yun and beat her needing only four games.

It was quite unfortunate for Lea to lose this way but once again, she did a really good job - she was just a little bit unlucky. The match could have gone either way. Still, this was an impressive run by Lea and so she has absolutely earned herself the 3rd place finish. Congratulations, Lea!
