Polyester is a petroleum-based synthetic fiber aka its a type of plastic. First chemists melt polyester pellets and force them through small holes. On the exit side of these small holes, the polyester fibers solidify. The size and shape of the hole dictate the shape and diameter of the fibers. They can now be cut to any length desired and be used for fibers within the fabric.

As polyester is a man-made product, which means you can also substitute recycled plastic bottles for the polyester pellets in the melting stage. This has been making all environmentalist jump with joy.
So what are the benefits of Polyester? It’s very durable, holding up better to wear tear than cotton does.

Polyester also dries quickly, wrinkles less and is stain resistant. What is also very cool is that polyester can be combined with other fabrics, creating an awesome, soft yet durable t shirt.
