Ten days short of the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, tentative steps towards prospective peace talks are being taken at the instance of U.S. President Donald Trump.
This is even as a Russian drone with a high-explosive warhead struck the protective containment shell of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine overnight.
After initial impressions of a unilateral move by Trump through a long phone call with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin over the fate and future of Ukraine, it has now been clarified by the US president that Ukraine will very much be part of any peace negotiations.
To understand what those negotiations may look like from Kyiv MCR spoke to Inna Sovsun, a Member of Ukrainian parliament and a prominent politician who has been a strident critic of Putin’s. She spoke from Kyiv.
