Every once in a while, a toy shows up that makes you stop for a second—and this Fire Mario figure from Jakks Pacific did exactly that.
On the surface, this looks like just another Mario variant. Fire Mario isn’t new. We’ve seen him in games for decades, and we’ve seen plenty of Mario figures over the years. But once you actually get this figure out of the package, there are a few things going on here that I genuinely didn’t expect—especially at this scale and price point.
In this video, I’m opening up the 4-inch Fire Mario from the Jakks Pacific Super Mario line, taking a close look at the sculpt, articulation, paint applications, and one very clever design choice involving the fireball accessory that deserves real credit. From the way the packaging poses the figure to the way the fireball locks perfectly into Mario’s hand, this feels like a figure that had more thought put into it than you’d normally expect from a mass retail release.
We also take time to really appreciate the packaging itself. The cross-sell on the back gives you a great sense of the line, the figure photography actually shows what the toy can do, and Mario isn’t just standing straight up in the bubble—he’s posed like he’s actively shooting a fireball. That might sound small, but details like that matter.
From there, I compare this Fire Mario to other figures across the Jakks Pacific Mario lineup, including the 2.25-inch Mario figures and the larger The Super Mario Bros. Movie line. Seeing these side by side really highlights how Jakks Pacific is slowly building what I like to call a “Mario ladder”—figures that represent different power-up states and levels the same way Mario progresses in the games.
The 4-inch Fire Mario hits a really nice sweet spot. You get solid articulation with bendable knees and ankles, rotating wrists, great head movement, and a sculpt that actually looks like Fire Mario is supposed to look. The paint work is clean, the shoe details are sharp, and the fireball accessory isn’t just an afterthought—it’s designed to work with the hand sculpt in a really satisfying way.
We also compare Fire Mario with Bowser from the movie line, talk about scale consistency, and touch on how Jakks Pacific has been absolutely knocking it out of the park lately—not just with Mario, but with Sonic and Pokémon as well.
If you’re a Mario fan, a toy collector, or someone who just appreciates when a company quietly overdelivers, this is one of those figures worth taking a closer look at.
