My name is Dr. Sidharth Verma and I am a Spine and Pain Physician
In this video, I am going to tell you about a patient who was suffering from Knee pain.
This woman had come to us with knee pain
and she had knee pain for a long time.
and like every other patient she was also thinking, how to save herself from operation
Is an operation necessary?
Can I save myself from this?
There are many patients who have Knee pain since a long time
and they eat medicines and do exercise to pass the time
till the pain becomes so unbearable that they need to change the knee.
But who wants to change their knee?
No one
And people are usually afraid of the pain after the surgery.
But the patients do not have to worry anymore.
because I am going to tell you about a procedure.
In which a patient can get away from knee pain without an operation.
In this technique, we combine two types of treatments.
This is done on those patients that are suffering from the last stage of arthritis
i.e. their knee has completely rubbed off.
or they are in the second last stage, the third stage of osteoarthritis.
In this technique, we see the muscles of the patient using ultrasound
and then the cavity which is called joint cavity or joint capsule
is injected with platelet-rich plasma
by which regeneration occurs.
because in this stage the chances of regeneration are very less.
but there is some regeneration capacity in muscles and cartilage which can beused.
There is another technique that is combined with this
and it is called cooled radiofrequency ablation
This process makes the nerves in the knee inactive
and only those nerves which are related to pain.
The patient is able to feel touch but only the pain in the knee is reduced.
These are those nerves that take the sensation of pain to the brain
By doing this the nerves aren't made completely inactive
but it for just a few days
and this time is enough for the patient to do his exercises
and get back to his daily activities.
This patient was also suffering from a similar type of pain.
What are you suffering from
I am not able to walk for long.
While walking I have a lot of pain in the knee
It was from last 8-10 years but since last 1 year, it has increased a lot.
How is the pain now?
I am not able to walk, walking causes pain.
What happens while walking?
There is a pain in the leg.
Where is the pain?
In this area, here there is a lot of pain.
You can see this groove here, here there is a lot of pain.
And for this patient, we did this procedure.
In which we located the three nerves of the Knee
First the two nerves on the top by an x-ray
and then the nerve on the bottom.
Then by cooled radiofrequency ablation machine, the nerves were made inactive
After which the patient's pain completely disappeared.
What happened now?
What happened in the OT?
The doctor did a lot of hard work and everything went so smoothly.
How is the pain now?
Now there is no pain, the pain is completely gone now.

So those suffering from this illness, arthritis of the knee
