The "cursed soldiers"
also known as "doomed soldiers",
"accursed soldiers" or
"damned soldiers",
Polish: Żołnierze wyklęci
Those names refer to soldiers who fought during ww2 but after it ended, and Poland fell victim to Russian communist rule, continued the guerrilla fight.
During WW2 fighting either occupying German (nazi) or Russian (communist) regimes, plenty were decorated war heroes during the war.
"history is written by the victor" -standing against communists oppressors, they were for 50 years labeled as bandits, murderers and traitors by communist historians.
After fall of communism, their universally tragic stories were brought back up to the light of day, and they're generally considered heroes and idolized by patriotic Poles.
Names given to them refer to fact, they were abandoned in a country where government, police, secret service and army were against them. They only found help among civilian population who lend them shelter, with great personal risk.
Even against those odds, they still fought, conducted executions on both enrolled and civilian communists (police in communist regimes rebranded as militia, government officials and traitors)
Third verse refers to general Emil August Fieldorf ndg "Nil" - decorated general from time of War. Even tortured, he refused to give out his subordinates or cooperate to get them come out of hiding. He was labeled as a traitor and executed by hanging.
Józef Franczak ndg Laluś was last of cursed soldiers killed in 1963 during militia ambush. He survived in hiding for 18 years after war ended, as one of most wanted people in the country.
